Exciting hands-on and minds-on learning activities occur everyday in our Mauka-Makai 2/3 class.
This course was designed with the understanding and exploration of what an ahupua'a is (Hawaiian land divisions from the mountain to the sea), and the comparisons of the past and the present, all through integrating literature, writing, science, the arts, and technology. Each field trip and classroom experience centers around our essential question, "How has the ahupua'a or the world changed over time?"
There are four kumu (teachers) teaching this summer; Mrs. Nalani Koch, Mrs. Lauren Kauhane, Mrs. Anna Lee Lum, and Mrs. Trina Kahawai-Travis. We also are fortunate to have a Teacher's Aid (TA) this year named Mr. Mason Dahlquist.
